Islamic Compliance & Ethical Guidelines

Gardens of the Sincere – Islamic Integrity in Every Project

Gardens of the Sincere (GOTS) is committed to operating in full compliance with Islamic principles of charity, financial ethics, and humanitarian conduct.

Our work is guided by the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and the consensus of classical and contemporary scholars regarding charity distribution, zakat governance, transparency, and ethical behaviour.

This page explains how our projects, financial handling, and organizational conduct remain aligned with Islamic values.

🕌 1. Foundational Principles

Our work is built on the core Islamic values of:

• Ikhlāṣ (Sincerity)

Every project seeks Allah’s pleasure alone.

• Amānah (Trustworthiness)

We handle donor funds with the utmost care and responsibility.

• ʿAdl (Justice)

We prioritize fairness in all decision making, fieldwork, and distribution.

• Ihsān (Excellence)

We strive for the highest standards in humanitarian work.

• Transparency

We regularly update donors with photos, videos, receipts, and field reports.

📘 2. Shariah Alignment of Funds

All funds donated to Gardens of the Sincere are strictly handled according to Islamic guidelines.

✔ No Interest (Ribā)

We do not earn, pay, or benefit from interest.

Donor funds are kept in non-interest accounts.

If interest is ever imposed by a banking system, it is immediately removed and given to non-beneficial charity (non-rewardable), not used for operations.

✔ Halal Use of Funds

Funds are only used for:

Water wells & sanitation

Food aid

Agriculture & livestock

Education & schools

Orphan & widow support

Medical aid

Emergency relief (Gaza, Sudan, Yemen, etc.)

Sustainable development projects

Funds are never used for prohibited activities or non-humanitarian purposes.

✔ No Salary from Zakat

Zakat is not used for staff salaries unless they fall under the category ‘āmilīn ʿalayhā (official zakat workers) — and even then only with clear justification.
We strive to keep zakat 100% for beneficiaries.

🌙 3. Zakat Compliance

We follow the Qur’anic eight categories of zakat recipients:

1. The poor (al-fuqarā’)

2. The needy (al-masākīn)

3. Zakat workers (ʿāmilīn ʿalayhā – restricted)

4. New Muslims (mu’allafah-qulūbuhum)

5. Freeing captives

6. Those in debt

7. In the path of Allah (fī sabīlillāh – classical interpretation)

8. The stranded traveler

Our Zakat Governance Includes:

Separate tracking of zakat vs sadaqah

Transparent allocation

Strict adherence to eligibility

Field verification of recipients

No mixing of funds

Priority to the poorest regions (Africa, Asia, war zones)

🐄 4. Qurban / Qurbani / Udhiya Guidelines

Gardens of the Sincere carries out Qurbani according to:

the teachings of the Qur’an

the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

opinions of scholars from all four madhāhib (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i, Hanbali)

Our Qurbani Process:

Animals are healthy, halal, and meet age requirements

Slaughter is done by trained Muslims

“Bismillah Allahu Akbar” is pronounced

Meat is given to the poor, refugees, or areas of crisis

Full transparency with photos & videos

No part of the Qurbani is sold for profit

🧾 5. Ethical Field Operations

✔ Fair Prices & No Exploitation

We avoid inflated costs and ensure fair treatment of local farmers, workers, and suppliers.

✔ Cultural & Religious Sensitivity

Projects adapt to local customs, Islamic values, and community needs.

✔ Trustworthy Local Teams

Our partners on the ground are:

practicing Muslims

vetted personally

trained in amanah & Islamic humanitarian ethics

✔ Zero Tolerance for Corruption

Any field staff violating amanah principles is immediately removed.

📊 6. Financial Transparency

We guarantee:

real field updates

proof of projects

receipts when applicable

photos/videos of distribution

immediate communication when a project is delayed or blocked

Reallocation Rules

If a project becomes impossible (war, flood, government restriction), funds are reallocated to a similar humanitarian need with the donor’s reward preserved — according to Islamic guidelines of niyyah and maslahah.

📚 7. Islamic Advisory & Scholarly Guidance

Gardens of the Sincere consults learned scholars to ensure:

zakat compliance

qurbani compliance

Islamic governance

transparency in distribution

ethical fundraising

clear avoidance of bid’ah, shirk, or unethical spiritual claims

🌍 8. Global Humanitarian Ethics

In line with Islamic principles and international humanitarian standards, we commit to delivering aid based on:

need

urgency

vulnerability

justice

regardless of:

ethnicity

nationality

tribe

political affiliation

Muslims and non-Muslims may receive aid where appropriate — as taught by the Prophet ﷺ.

💛 9. Our Promise to Donors

Every donation is treated as:

a sacred trust (amānah)

a means of purification (zakāh / ṣadaqah)

an investment for the hereafter (ṣadaqah jariyah)

We honour the intention (niyyah) of every donor
and ensure the reward returns fully to them.
